Botswana banned Bridgette Radebe the sister-in-law of South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa and the wife of energy minister Jeff Radebe from entering the country visa-free.
PovoNews.com previously reported that ex-Botswana president Ian Khama issued a press statement denying a secret meeting with Bridget Motsepe & Pelonomi Venson-Moito in Victoria Falls.
Venson-Moito is Botswana’s former foreign affairs minister and pulled out at the last minute in her attempt to challenge President Mokgweetsi Masisi at the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) special elective congress.
A document issued by Botswana’s Immigration Minister Magang Ngaka Ngaka on 17 April 2019, said Bridgette Radebe must “obtain a visa to enter Botswana”.
Bridgette Radebe, 59, is president of the South African Mining Development Association, the older sister of billionaire Patrice Motsepe, and of South Africa’s first lady, Tshepo Motsepe.
South Africans normally do not require an advance visa to travel to their land-locked, diamond-rich neighbor, president Ramaphosa sent foreign minister Lindiwe Sisulu to Gaborone last week after media reports on Radebe’s alleged role in Botswana politics.
