Advocate Busisiwe Joyce Mkhwebane has been appointed South Africa’s new Public Protector by President Jacob Zuma for seven years starting 15 October 2016.
Zuma “thanked outgoing public protector‚ Advocate Thulisile Madonsela for her services and wished Advocate Mkhwebane all the best in executing her new responsibilities”.
Mkhwebane was nominated by the Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee on August 24. Following a vote in the National Assembly, her nomination was approved with 263 votes in favor, 79 against, and 1 abstention
