Malawi presidential candidate Saulos Chilima called for the nullification of the 2019 tripartite elections citing unresolved election irregularities.
The UTM leader was speaking at a press conference held at his Area 10 residence in Lilongwe on Saturday, 25 May 2019.
Chilima said the credibility of Malawi’s 2019 elections is seriously compromised, saying the announcement of election results doesn’t mean announcing the winner of the elections.
PovoNews.com previously reported that the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) suspended results announcement after Tippex vote-rigging claims on Friday.
Malawi’s High Court in Lilongwe ordered the MEC not to announce presidential election results until votes from Nsanje, Chikwawa, Mangochi, Blantyre, Zomba Karonga, Rumphi, Nkhatabay, Mulanje, Rumphi were transparently verified.
The order follows an application by the main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) through their lawyer Titus Mvalo.
