Elon Musk’s Starlink is now live in Botswana, making it the 105th country worldwide and the 15th in Africa to license and launch the satellite internet provider.
Starlink’s license application to operate in Botswana was initially rejected by the regulator BOCRA in February, but it was eventually approved in May after President Mokgweetsi Masisi met with executives from SpaceX’s Starlink unit.
The Starlink hardware kit is priced at 4,820 pula ($364), with monthly subscriptions of 688 pula ($52) and shipping costs of 314 pula ($24).
Starlink is licensed and operates in the following African countries: Sierra Leone, Eswatini, Nigeria, Kenya, Mozambique, Reunion, Malawi, Zambia, Rwanda, Mauritius, Benin, Botswana, Madagascar, and Ghana.
