US President Donald Trump praised 29-year-old Tanzanian female football juggler Hadhara Charles Mjeje in a tweet on Monday, 18 February 2019.
Mjeje is a single mother of two sons, for the last six years, she has been traveling across Africa using her ball juggling skills to provide for her family.
Her viral video that caught the eye of US President Trump was filmed in Malawi, Mjeje charges $4 for a two-minute performance and earns between $45 to $50 a day.
After Trump’s tweet, Mjeje has received worldwide media attention leading to lucrative endorsements from as far as Spain.
The original video of Mjeje was shared on twitter by Akin Sawyerr on February 16 and by March 8 it had over 10 million views and counting.
Hadhara Charles Mjeje started playing football as a teenager in Tanzania for a local women’s football team, in 2012 she even met Cameroon football legend Patrick Mboma.
