Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine shot in the leg by police

Uganda’s main opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine was shot in the leg by police in Bulindo on August 3.

Bobi Wine, former MP for Kyadondo County East and leader of Uganda’s main opposition, the National Unity Platform (NUP), came second with 35% in Uganda’s 2021 presidential election.

Wine’s party NUP released a post on X saying “Security operatives have made an attempt (on his life). He was shot in the leg and seriously injured in Bulindo, Wakiso District”

Uganda police released a statement claiming that Bobi Wine “stumbled” after an altercation with officers who were attempting to stop his entourage from making a procession in Bulindo.
