Hichilema projected to win Zambia’s 2021 presidential election defeating incumbent Edgar Lungu

Hakainde Hichilema of the UPND is projected to win Zambia’s 2021 presidential election defeating Edgar Lungu of the ruling PF according to a projection by Povo News.

Zambia’s general election was held on 12 August 2021 to elect the President and National Assembly, as of 15 August 2021 (17:00) the Electoral Commission of Zambia had announced election results from 107 out of the 156 constituencies (69%).

According to the Povo News live tracker of Zambia’s 2021 presidential election results Hichilime is leading with 1,847,870 votes while the ruling party candidate, Edgar Lungu has 1,079,713 votes a lead of over 700 000 votes.

It is now mathematically impossible for Lungu to win Zambia’s 2021 presidential election according to internal projects by Povo News.
